For me, travel, exploration, and the experience of new and different foods and cultures are the spice of life. While originally from the Los Angeles area, I've had the privilege to travel broadly for work and leisure. I've worked internationally in Switzerland, Argentina, Canada, and Panama and domestically in the Grand Canyon (Arizona), Nebraska, Illinois, and Oregon. Personal travels include Central America (fairly extensively), Peru, Indonesia, and Tanzania, to name a few.
Wherever I am, you can bet I'm seeking out good food, great views, and spectacular wildlife. I'm an avid birder, a die hard eBirder, and an amateur wildlife photographer. While most people know me as a birder, my passion for amphibians is only slightly more muted. Other interests include soccer (go Manchester City!), tennis, hiking, trail riding, and board gaming.
Professionally, I'm a landscape ecologist with specific interests in ornithology, conservation biology, and the connection between people and nature. I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Organismal Biology from Pitzer College in 2007, my Master's of Science in Zoology from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 2012, and my PhD in Wildlife Science from Oregon State University in 2018.
